Wrong Side Driving and Illegal Parking on NH 66 Continue to Trouble Bhatkal Residents
Traffic chaos, damaged service roads, and rampant traffic violations are causing daily inconvenience and raising safety concerns in the town.

Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News): Residents of Bhatkal continue to face increasing difficulties due to traffic mismanagement and infrastructure issues along National Highway 66, despite the completion of some expansion and construction works in recent weeks.
The condition of the service road near the busy Shamsuddin Circle has become a major concern for commuters. Large potholes and uneven stretches have made travel difficult, slowing down traffic movement and increasing the risk of accidents.
Illegal parking along the main highway has further worsened the situation. A significant number of vehicles are reportedly being parked daily on the left side of the road leading towards Nawayath Colony, despite the presence of clearly displayed “No Parking” signs and barricades. Residents allege that traffic rules are being openly violated without effective enforcement.
The situation becomes even more dangerous due to frequent instances of wrong side driving. Around Noor Masjid, buses and other vehicles are often seen entering one way roads from the opposite direction, creating serious safety hazards for motorists and pedestrians alike.
Local residents have expressed concern that neither the police nor the concerned authorities are taking adequate steps to address these violations. They fear that continued negligence could lead to major accidents in the future.
Members of the public have urged the police department, the National Highways Authority, and other concerned agencies to jointly intervene and take immediate corrective measures. They have demanded strict action against illegal parking, effective monitoring of wrong side driving, and urgent repair of damaged service roads to ensure safer and smoother traffic movement in Bhatkal.
