Woman in Burqa Who Dumped Meat in Hindu Locality Identified as Non Muslim, Police Probe Possible Conspiracy
A two week police investigation in Ahmednagar revealed that the woman seen on CCTV disposing of meat in a Hindu majority area was not Muslim, raising questions about the motive behind the incident.

A surprising development has emerged from Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, where police have uncovered new details in a case that sparked tension during Eid al Adha celebrations.
The controversy began on May 28 when meat was found in a garbage pile in Brahmin Galli, a Hindu majority neighborhood in Ahmednagar. The discovery created concern among residents and led to fears that communal harmony in the city could be disturbed.
Initial CCTV footage showed a woman wearing a burqa allegedly dumping the meat in the area. The images quickly led to speculation and attempts by some groups to link the incident to the Muslim community.
Following a complaint filed by a municipal sanitation officer, the Kotwali Police launched a detailed investigation. Given Ahmednagar’s history of communal sensitivity, authorities treated the matter seriously and worked to prevent any escalation.
Police reviewed footage from nearly 150 CCTV cameras installed across different parts of the city. Investigators also questioned several women who were seen near the suspect in the recordings.
After nearly thirteen days of investigation, police traced the woman to Swati Vikram Bhosale, a resident of Kamergaon in Ahmednagar taluka. According to police, Bhosale later admitted that she had worn a burqa and disposed of the meat on the day of Eid.
In her initial statement, Bhosale said that she survives by begging and supports her three children through alms. She claimed that she had visited Muslim neighborhoods on Eid seeking food assistance and meat. According to her version of events, she received meat from one location but did not want to use it, so she later threw it into a garbage heap in Brahmin Galli.
Police have confirmed that the woman earns her livelihood through begging. However, investigators are continuing to examine whether her explanation fully accounts for her actions and what her actual intentions may have been.
The case has also attracted political attention. Local Shiv Sena leader Kiran Kale questioned several aspects of the woman’s account. He asked why a non Muslim woman felt the need to wear a burqa simply to seek assistance and why she chose to dispose of the meat in a specific Hindu majority neighborhood instead of returning it or discarding it elsewhere.
Kale suggested that the incident could have been part of a broader attempt to create division and provoke tensions between communities. He urged police to investigate every possible angle and determine whether anyone else was involved.
Ahmednagar Police are now examining whether the act was an isolated decision by the woman or part of a larger effort to disturb communal peace in the city. The timing of the incident during Eid and the use of a Muslim disguise have intensified scrutiny of the case.
Local residents and leaders from the Muslim community have praised the police investigation, saying that the timely discovery of the facts helped prevent misunderstandings and potentially serious communal unrest.
