A visually impaired student from Sirsi had every reason to celebrate her SSLC results, but instead found herself in distress after a clerical error left a shadow over her hard-earned success.

Liza Khanam, a student at Union High School in Sirsi, had appeared for all her exams. But when the SSLC results were announced on Thursday, her marks card showed her as absent in the Science paper, a subject she had very much attended and written.

The error was first reported by local media SahilOnline on the same day, bringing the issue into public view. Soon after, local MLA Bhimanna Naik took notice and personally reached out to Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa, urging him to act without delay.

The response was swift. The Examination Board reviewed the matter, confirmed the mistake, and issued a corrected marks card for Liza in short order.

With the error now fixed, her true performance is on record. Liza scored 603 out of 625 marks, securing an outstanding 96.48%, a result that reflects just how capable and dedicated she truly is.

Her family expressed deep relief and gratitude, and district education officials also drew praise for responding to the situation with urgency and accountability.

For Liza, what began as an unsettling day ended with the recognition she had rightfully earned.
