Veteran Physician and BET President Dr Suresh V Naik Passes Away at 84

Bhatkal: Dr Suresh V Naik, a senior physician, noted educationist, and President of the Bhatkal Education Trust, passed away on Sunday at the age of 84 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru. His passing has left the people of Bhatkal deeply saddened, with tributes pouring in from across educational, social, religious, and medical communities.
Dr Naik devoted nearly 55 years of his life to the growth and development of the Bhatkal Education Trust. Under his leadership, the trust expanded from a modest educational initiative into a network of seven institutions that now provide education to more than 3,500 students.
Alongside his contributions to education, Dr Naik served the community as a physician for almost five decades. He earned widespread respect for his compassionate approach, professional integrity, and dedication to treating people from all backgrounds without discrimination.
Religious and community leaders described his death as a significant loss to the town. They praised his lifelong commitment to public service, communal harmony, and educational progress.
Several public figures, including local elected representatives and leaders of social organisations, also expressed their condolences and remembered his lasting contributions to healthcare, education, and community welfare.
As a mark of respect, the Bhatkal Education Trust announced a holiday across all its institutions on Monday following the passing of its long serving president.
