Uttara Kannada to Add 79 New Polling Stations, Total to Reach 1,524
New polling stations will be established across six assembly segments to accommodate the district's growing number of voters.
The Uttara Kannada district administration has announced the addition of 79 new polling stations in response to the increasing number of voters across the district.
Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya shared the information during a meeting on the Special Summary Revision of the electoral roll held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Karwar on Saturday. Representatives of various political parties attended the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner said the district currently has 1,445 polling stations. As several polling stations now have more than 1,200 voters, the Election Commission has decided to establish additional polling stations to ensure smoother election management.
According to the plan, 13 new polling stations will be set up in Haliyal, 8 in Karwar, 11 in Kumta, 22 in Bhatkal, 15 in Sirsi, and 10 in Yellapur. With these additions, the total number of polling stations in Uttara Kannada will increase to 1,524.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of the Special Summary Revision of the electoral roll and asked representatives of political parties to verify any doubts or discrepancies through their Booth Level Agents before the revision process is completed.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla, BJP District Vice President Sanjay Salunke, Congress District Vice President Babu Sheikh, Congress representative Syed Ashraf, and officials from the district election branch were present at the meeting.
