Bengaluru: The long wait surrounding the formation of Karnataka’s new government and cabinet has finally come to an end, with the release of the first official list of ministers.

According to the announcement, D K Shivakumar will serve as Chief Minister, while Dr G Parameshwara has been appointed Deputy Chief Minister. Alongside them, 12 senior leaders from across the state are set to take oath as cabinet ministers. Among the notable names is senior coastal Karnataka leader U T Khader, who has secured a place in the new ministry.

However, the absence of any MLA from Uttara Kannada district, which includes Karwar and Bhatkal, has become a major talking point in the region. Despite having several experienced and senior legislators, the district did not receive representation in the first phase of cabinet appointments.

With only a limited number of leaders accommodated in the initial list, several aspirants, including women legislators and leaders from Uttara Kannada, have been left out for now.

The development has led to growing speculation in political circles about whether the Congress high command will give priority to Uttara Kannada during the next round of cabinet expansion. Attention is now focused on the remaining ministerial positions and whether a leader from the district will be chosen in the coming weeks.
