Uttara Kannada Begins Notice Process for 65,330 Voters Over Electoral Roll Discrepancies
District officials say voters with no mapping or logical discrepancies will receive notices and an opportunity to submit supporting documents.
The Uttara Kannada district administration has begun issuing notices to 65,330 voters identified with no mapping or logical discrepancies as part of the comprehensive electoral roll revision for 2026.
Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya announced the development at a press conference held at her office on Monday.
The district has 12,30,037 registered voters. Officials have so far collected and digitised enumeration forms for 91.3 percent of them, the Deputy Commissioner said.
A draft electoral roll containing the names of voters who were not classified as absent, shifted or deceased has already been published. The administration has now started generating notices for voters whose records show no mapping or logical discrepancies.
Booth Level Officers will visit the homes of the concerned voters to deliver the notices, officials said.
Voters asked to submit documents
Those who receive notices must appear at the specified date, time and location with the required documents from a list of 12 approved records.
Voters who are unable to attend on the date mentioned in the first notice will be given another opportunity, Lakshmipriya said.
The revision process will also allow eligible citizens to register as new voters, correct details in the electoral roll or update their address following a move. Applications for these changes can be submitted until September 23.
Steps to protect eligible voters
The district administration has appointed 145 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers to examine documents submitted by voters whose records have been flagged for no mapping or logical discrepancies.
Lakshmipriya said the verification process would be carried out carefully to ensure that no eligible voter is wrongly removed from the electoral roll.
The final electoral roll for the district is scheduled to be published on October 27.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dileesh Shashi and Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla were also present at the press conference.
