UP Police Arrest Mosque Muazzin Mohammad Faizan Over Alleged Azaan Volume Violation
Authorities seize mosque loudspeaker in Bijnor and suspend a beat constable over alleged negligence in enforcing noise regulations.

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district arrested mosque muazzin Mohammad Faizan after officials alleged that the loudspeaker used to broadcast the Azaan was operating above the prescribed noise limits.
The incident took place on Saturday in the Najibabad area. District Magistrate Umesh Pratap Singh and Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar Bishnoi were travelling to attend a public grievance redressal programme when they reportedly heard the Azaan being broadcast from a mosque in the Makbara locality.
Following the incident, police inspected the mosque and seized the loudspeaker equipment. Sub Inspector Saurabh Singh filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against Faizan.
According to police reports, Faizan was arrested and produced before a Sub Divisional Magistrate’s court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. Authorities alleged that the sound from the loudspeaker exceeded the permitted limits. However, the reports did not provide a specific decibel reading from the mosque.
In a related development, SP Krishan Kumar Bishnoi suspended beat constable Lalit Kumar over alleged negligence in enforcing loudspeaker regulations. The SP also directed police station chiefs to obtain affidavits from beat constables confirming compliance with noise rules in their respective areas.
The action comes amid a wider drive by Bijnor police to regulate loudspeaker use at religious places. Officials have stated that sound amplification equipment must comply with prescribed limits.
