Tragic Road Accident in Karnataka Claims Two Lives, Including Pregnant Woman
High-speed collision between a car and truck in Chamarajanagar district leaves two dead and two critically injured.
A devastating road accident in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar district has claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and a car driver, while two others sustained serious injuries.
The incident took place near Madinandi on the Gundlupet–Kerala highway when a speeding car travelling from Kerala towards Chamarajanagar collided head-on with an oncoming truck. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled, and the vehicle veered off the road into a nearby slope.
According to initial reports, four people were travelling in the car at the time of the crash. Eyewitnesses said the driver appeared to have lost control while driving at high speed, resulting in the collision with the truck.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and attempted to rescue those trapped inside the vehicle. However, both the pregnant woman and the driver had already died on the spot due to severe injuries.
The other two passengers sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors have stated that their condition remains serious, and they may need to be shifted to a larger medical facility for advanced treatment.
Police reached the scene soon after being alerted and sent the bodies for postmortem examination. The families of the victims have been informed about the tragic incident.
The accident caused major disruption on the Gundlupet–Kerala highway, leading to heavy traffic congestion for several hours. A section of the road was completely blocked due to the overturned car and the stationary truck. Authorities later cleared the wreckage using a crane and restored traffic movement.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the crash. Police are also questioning the truck driver as part of the inquiry.
Officials have once again urged motorists to follow speed limits, especially on highways and during challenging weather conditions, to prevent such fatal accidents.
