The former Haryana MP succeeds Thaawarchand Gehlot after being appointed by President Droupadi Murmu.

Bengaluru (Fikrokhabar News): Dr Sudha Yadav was sworn in as the new Governor of Karnataka on Friday, October 16, becoming the second woman to hold the constitutional post in the state.
Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru administered the oath of office to Yadav at a ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru. The event was attended by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, outgoing Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, ministers, opposition leaders and senior officials.
Yadav was appointed Governor by President Droupadi Murmu on October 12 as part of a reshuffle involving governors of six states. She succeeds Gehlot, who had held the post since July 2021.
A senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Yadav represented the Mahendragarh constituency in Haryana in the Lok Sabha from 1999 to 2004. She later held several organisational positions in the BJP and served on the National Commission for Backward Classes. In 2022, she became a member of the BJP Parliamentary Board.
Yadav holds a doctorate in chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, formerly the University of Roorkee. She entered public life after her husband, Sukhbir Singh Yadav, a Border Security Force officer, was killed during the 1999 Kargil War.
Before her appointment, V S Ramadevi was the first woman to serve as Karnataka Governor, holding the position from 1999 to 2002.
