SIR 2026: First Notice Hearings in Uttara Kannada to Be Completed by September End
District has completed hearings in 39,804 cases, with 24,945 cases still pending
Karwar: The hearing process for first notices issued in cases involving unmapped voters and logical discrepancies under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls will be completed by the end of September, Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya said.
She made the announcement during a meeting with representatives of political parties held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Karwar on Tuesday.
The district has identified a total of 65,248 cases involving unmapped entries and logical discrepancies. Of these, 64,749 notices have been served so far.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, hearings have been completed in 39,804 cases, while 24,945 cases are still pending. She said efforts are underway to complete the remaining hearings within the September deadline.
The district has also identified 85 cases involving voters who have died or have duplicate registrations.
The constituency wise progress is as follows:
Haliyal: Hearings completed in 8,907 out of 14,012 notices.
Karwar: Hearings completed in 5,881 out of 10,446 notices.
Kumta: Hearings completed in 4,984 out of 8,344 notices.
Bhatkal: Hearings completed in 6,889 out of 13,660 notices.
Sirsi: Hearings completed in 5,428 out of 8,821 notices.
Yellapur: Hearings completed in 7,715 out of 9,965 notices.
The Deputy Commissioner also said September 23 is the final date for submitting claims and objections as per the Election Commission’s schedule. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 27.
During the special voter awareness and enrolment drive held on September 19 and 20, the district received 2,613 applications for new voter registration, 89 objections and 1,395 applications seeking corrections in voter details.
Regarding the Karnataka West Graduates Constituency, 23 polling stations have been identified in the district, with 15,732 registered voters. Those seeking fresh enrolment can submit Form 18 to the concerned Tahsildar and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla, representatives of various political parties and officials from the election branch attended the meeting.
