SIO Bhatkal Organises Inter College History Fair “Imprints of the Past”
Twelve teams from leading PU and degree colleges present historical models and research projects
Bhatkal: The Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Bhatkal unit, organised an inter college history fair titled “Imprints of the Past” at the Dr. M.T. Hassan Bapa Memorial Hall of Shams School on Thursday. Students from various PU and degree colleges across Bhatkal participated in the educational event.
The inaugural programme began at 9 a.m. with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Campus Secretary Syed Sabiq Barmawar. Media Secretary Mashaikh Talish delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests.
SIO Bhatkal Unit President Mohammed Zayan spoke about the importance of history and explained the organisation’s mission to the students and gathering.
The chief guest, former SIO of India Secretary Nihal Kidiyoor, highlighted the significance of studying history and urged students to develop a deeper understanding of their past and heritage.
Guest speakers Ishaque Shabandari, General Secretary of Anjuman Hami E Muslimeen Bhatkal, and Maulana Azizur Rahman Ruknuddin, General Secretary of Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal, congratulated SIO for organising the fair. They also encouraged the continuation of such beneficial educational programmes along with suitable follow up activities.
The inaugural session was presided over by Maulana Syed Zubair SM, Ameer of Jamaat E Islami Hind, Bhatkal. He formally inaugurated the history fair following his presidential address. The programme was conducted by Mohammed Mohtesham.
A total of 12 teams comprising students from different PU and degree colleges participated in the fair. Each team consisted of three students who presented historical models prepared through research and detailed study.
The models were evaluated by noted Uttara Kannada historian Prof. M.S. Gururaj, senior journalist and former General Secretary of Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem Bhatkal Dr. Haneef Shabab, and Nihal Kidiyoor. The judges carefully examined the presentations and assessed the efforts of all participating teams.
The fair attracted a large number of students, college representatives, office bearers and members of the public.
The closing session was held at 3 p.m. and was conducted by Mashaikh Talish. Dr. Haneef Shabab and Prof. M.S. Gururaj shared their observations and appreciated the efforts of all participants. They encouraged students to continue studying history and strengthen their research skills.
Sumama Khan delivered the vote of thanks. Programme Coordinator and Unit Secretary Githreef Rida Manvi distributed prizes among the winners.
