The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Abdurrahman Al-Hudhaifi, Imam and Khatib of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, has been chosen to deliver the Arafah Day sermon for Hajj season 1447 AH.

The sermon will be delivered on 9 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH from Masjid Namirah — the historic mosque located on the plains of Arafat, where the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ delivered his Farewell Sermon over 1,400 years ago.

Arafah Day is the single most important day of Hajj and is widely regarded as one of the greatest days in the entire Islamic calendar. On this day, millions of pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat to stand in prayer, supplication, and remembrance of Allah — a moment that represents the very heart and soul of the Hajj pilgrimage.

The Arafah sermon is one of the most watched and listened-to religious addresses in the world, broadcast live to billions of Muslims across the globe who follow the proceedings from their homes, mosques, and communities.

Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi is one of the most senior and respected scholars in the Muslim world. Having served as an Imam at Masjid al-Nabawi for decades, he is deeply loved and recognised by Muslims everywhere for his sincere and moving recitation and delivery.

Being selected to deliver the Arafah sermon is one of the highest honours in the Islamic world, and Muslims globally are expected to tune in to listen to this year’s address.
