The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that Sheikh Dr. Abdul Bari bin Awwad Al-Thubayti, Imam and Khatib of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, will deliver this Friday’s sermon and lead the Jumu’ah prayer at Masjid al-Nabawi.

The prayer is scheduled for 28 Dhul Qa’dah 1447 AH — the last Friday of Dhul Qa’dah, making it one of the most significant Jumu’ah prayers of the entire year. With Dhul Hijjah just days away and the Hajj season about to begin, the Prophet’s Mosque is currently overflowing with pilgrims from around the world who have come to pray and seek blessings before proceeding to Makkah.

As is the standard practice, a reserve Khatib has also been officially confirmed for this week. Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Abdurrahman Al-Hudhaifi will serve as the standby preacher, ready to step in if needed.

Sheikh Al-Thubayti is a well-loved and experienced Imam at Masjid al-Nabawi, widely recognised across the Muslim world for his powerful and heartfelt delivery. His Friday sermons are broadcast live each week and followed closely by millions of Muslims through television and digital platforms.

This Friday carries particular spiritual weight, as Muslims preparing for Hajj gather in their largest numbers at the Prophet’s Mosque — seeking closeness to Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ before embarking on the greatest journey of their lives.
