Valki: The Sharavathi Educational Awards ceremony, organised by the Sharavathi Muslim Council, was held at the function hall of Ittehad Public School in Valki, Honnavar taluk. More than 13 students who achieved outstanding results in various fields of education were honoured with medals, certificates and valuable prizes.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Abdullah Sukri, General Secretary of the council. Maulana Mohammed Ilyas Nadwi, founder and General Secretary of Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Islamic Academy, Bhatkal, attended the event as the chief guest. Maulana Abdul Mateen Muniri, a member of the Majlis e Shura of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, along with several community representatives from Bhatkal and surrounding areas, was also present.

Students who secured excellent results in SSLC, PUC, degree, engineering and other educational fields were felicitated during the programme. Speakers congratulated the students, their parents and teachers and encouraged the achievers to continue working hard in their educational journey.

Among the notable achievers was Mohammed Buraq, son of Khwaja Sheikh, who completed Hifz of the Quran at Ittehad Public School, Valki, while also securing 96.8 percent in the Class 10 examination and achieving first place.

Addressing the gathering, Maulana Mohammed Ilyas Nadwi spoke about the importance of Islamic education and expressed concern over the growing distance of young people from their religious values. He urged parents to make the protection of their children’s faith and character a priority and to provide them with an environment conducive to Islamic learning.

He said educational institutions can also become a source of influences that may affect the religious identity of the younger generation. Therefore, he called upon the community to focus not only on academic excellence but also on establishing educational institutions and strengthening existing schools in accordance with Islamic values.

He particularly urged parents to consider institutions that provide an Islamic environment for their daughters and to give due attention to protecting their faith and Islamic identity.

The award recipients included Gul Bahar, daughter of Fazlur Rahman Karwe, with 88.4 percent; Atufa, daughter of Mohammed Hanif Bapoji, with 86.72 percent; Zaidan, son of Ilyas Khan Shamsi, with 92.16 percent; Muzna, daughter of Sikandar Khan Sarlagi, with 93.12 percent; Mohammed Buraq, son of Khwaja Sheikh, with 96.8 percent; and Madiha Anjum, daughter of Yusuf Sahib Sarlagi, with 98.16 percent.

In engineering, Aqsa Anjum, daughter of Tabrez Khan Sarlagi, was honoured for securing 95.16 percent in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Special awards were also presented to students who completed Hifz of the Quran, including Hafiz Aman Potli, Hafiz Umar bin Mohammed Rafiq of Jeddah, Hafiz Bilal bin Khwaja Potli, Hafiz Abdullah bin Nooruddin Gima, Hafiz Aseem bin Asim Quazi and Hafiz Mohammed Buraq bin Khwaja Sheikh.
