Bhatkal – Shams Pre-University College, under the Tarbiyat Education Society, is organizing a research-focused science fair on Thursday, November 20, 2025. This marks the second science fair by the institution, with the first held ten years ago.

The event was announced during a press conference where Principal Liaqat Ali explained the main goal of the fair. “This is not just about displaying science models. Our objective is to identify real problems in our society and find solutions through proper research,” he said.

The college started preparing for this event two months ago. They invited schools and colleges from across Bhatkal Taluk to participate. Around 115 teams registered initially, and after mentoring and guidance, 46 teams were selected to present their research at the fair.

Shams PU College is organizing the fair in partnership with AJ Academy of Research and Development from Raichur. The selected teams have been working on real community issues and will present their findings at the fair.

One example shared during the press meet was about flooding in Bhatkal. Students were given the task to study why water does not drain properly in the streets during rains and to suggest solutions. Officials noted that similar student research projects have influenced government policies in the past.

“We want to encourage students to develop research skills. Our aim is to produce scientists from Bhatkal who will work for the betterment of society,” the principal added.

The event will have separate time slots for different groups. The inauguration will take place at 9:30 AM. Schools and colleges can bring their students between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Women can visit from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, while the general public and men can attend from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

All educational institutions in Bhatkal have been requested to send their students to the fair. The organizers believe this will inspire more young people to take up research and help make Bhatkal a model town for the nation.

Students who participate will be recognized as “budding scientists” and “emerging scientists” through awards, encouraging them to continue their research work in the future.
