Additional Director General R. Hitendra held a review meeting with senior officials and directed strict action against rumours and unlawful activities.

Bhatkal witnessed an important visit from a senior state level authority as Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order, R. Hitendra, arrived from Bengaluru to review the local peace and security situation.
During his visit, R. Hitendra held a detailed meeting with senior and local officials. The discussion focused on the present situation in Bhatkal, the wider law and order condition in Uttara Kannada district, and steps needed to ensure public safety.
The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police of Uttara Kannada, the Inspector General of the Western Range, and several officials from the district.
R. Hitendra instructed the officials to ensure that no individual is allowed to take the law into their own hands. He also emphasized the need to continue strong and effective measures to maintain peace in the region.
Special attention was given to the spread of false news and rumours on social media. Officials were directed to closely monitor such activities and take action as per law whenever necessary.
As part of the visit, R. Hitendra was also given a formal guard of honour at the Bhatkal Town Police Station.
The visit is being seen as a significant development, especially as it comes after a long gap in which a senior state level official personally visited Bhatkal to assess the situation on the ground.
