Section 144 Imposed in Bhatkal Town and Rural Police Limits Till May 27
Authorities have restricted public gatherings in Bhatkal as a precautionary step to maintain peace and law and order.

Bhatkal: The Uttara Kannada district police have imposed prohibitory orders in Bhatkal Town and Bhatkal Rural police station limits following the tense situation in the area.
According to the official notice, the restrictions have been issued under Section 144 CrPC and Section 163 of BNSS 2023.
The order will remain in force from 6:00 am on May 25, 2026, to 6:00 am on May 27, 2026.
During this period, public gatherings and unlawful assemblies have been restricted in the notified areas. People have been advised not to gather in groups or take part in any activity that may disturb public peace.
Police have warned that anyone violating the order or creating a law and order problem will face legal action.
The move comes as a precautionary measure after tension continued in Bhatkal over the Murin Katte issue near National Highway 66. Police deployment has already been strengthened in sensitive areas, and officials have appealed to the public to remain calm.
Authorities have also urged residents not to believe or spread rumours and to cooperate with the police until normalcy is fully restored.
