School Bus Driver Suffers Heart Attack While Driving, Quick Thinking Prevents Major Tragedy in Manipal

A potentially devastating accident was narrowly avoided in Manipal on Monday after a school bus driver suffered a heart attack while behind the wheel but managed to steer the vehicle to safety before losing control.
The incident involved a private school bus that was transporting students at the time. According to reports, the 54 year old driver, identified as Suresh Sannaki Bettu, suddenly experienced severe chest pain while driving and realized that his condition was rapidly deteriorating.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Suresh acted swiftly and attempted to move the bus towards the left side of the road before becoming completely incapacitated. During the maneuver, the bus struck a road divider and came to a halt.
Thanks to the driver’s presence of mind, all the students on board escaped unharmed. Authorities and eyewitnesses praised his actions, noting that his quick decision likely prevented a major accident and ensured the safety of dozens of children travelling in the vehicle.
Following the incident, local residents and school staff rushed to the scene and arranged immediate medical assistance for the driver. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors are currently providing treatment.
