RFF Delegation Submits Memorandum to Uttara Kannada DC Over Poor Condition of Jamia Abad Road and Drinking Water Issue in Rahmat Abad
Forum seeks immediate road restoration, drainage measures and regular drinking water facilities for Rahmat Abad residents

Bhatkal: The Rahmat Abad Friends Forum (RFF), has raised serious concerns over the poor condition of Jamia Abad Road and the irregular supply of drinking water in Rahmat Abad. A delegation of the forum met Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya at her office in Karwar and submitted two separate memorandums seeking immediate action on both issues.
In the first memorandum, RFF highlighted the deteriorating condition of the PWD road connecting Tengingundi Cross with Rahmat Abad and Tengingundi Port, commonly known as Jamia Abad Road.
The delegation informed the Deputy Commissioner that memorandums had already been submitted during the first week of September to Karnataka Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and local MLA Mankal S Vaidya, the Assistant Commissioner, the Tahsildar and senior PWD officials regarding the condition of the road.
However, the Delegation said that despite the passage of considerable time, no visible repair or restoration work has been initiated.
Residents have faced difficulties due to waterlogging during the rainy season, while the situation has now worsened because of excessive dust from the damaged road. RFF said the dust has made daily life difficult for residents and could also have an impact on public health.
The forum urged the district administration to take immediate steps to repair and restore the road, establish an adequate drainage system and introduce measures to control dust until permanent restoration work is completed.
In its second memorandum, RFF highlighted the issue of irregular and inadequate drinking water supply in Rahmat Abad.
According to the delegation, a large part of the area already has a water pipeline network and household connections. Despite this infrastructure, residents continue to face severe shortages and an irregular water supply.
RFF requested the district administration to treat the drinking water issue as a priority and take necessary steps to ensure a regular and adequate supply to residents.
RFF executive members Jareer Hasan Shoupa, Anzaf Quazi, Ahmed MS, Abdul Mannan, Moulavi Abubakr Siddiq, Ikrash Muniri, Tanzeem and Syed Sinan SJ were present during the meeting, along with Rahmat Abad residents Abubakr Baida and Yahya Ruknuddin.
