Tamil Nadu: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Tamil Nadu, making a series of allegations that linked domestic governance with international influence.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent appearance in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi claimed it showed a lack of confidence. He alleged that Modi was unable to face the Opposition during discussions on the delimitation issue.

In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Rahul Gandhi claimed that former US President Donald Trump had significant influence over Modi. He further alleged that this influence was tied to sensitive information, including references to the Jeffrey Epstein case and the Prime Minister’s alleged financial links. These claims, however, have been dismissed earlier by the Union government, which described such references as baseless and not credible.

The Congress leader also accused the government of weakening key sectors of the economy, including energy security, data protection, and support for farmers and small businesses.

Speaking about developments in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the ruling government attempted to use a constitutional amendment bill as a cover to push forward delimitation changes. He claimed that such a move would reduce representation for southern and northeastern states. He added that the Opposition had united to block what he described as a larger political strategy.

Turning to Tamil Nadu politics, Rahul Gandhi expressed confidence that the alliance between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Congress would win the upcoming Assembly elections. He said the results would reflect the will of the people of the state.

He also praised Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, stating that he remained independent and could not be pressured by the BJP leadership. Rahul Gandhi suggested that attempts were being made to replace him with a more compliant leader, indirectly referring to Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

The Congress leader criticised the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, claiming it had changed over time and was now acting as a proxy for the BJP. He alleged that the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh were attempting to expand their influence in Tamil Nadu through such alliances.

Rahul Gandhi also highlighted Tamil Nadu’s cultural and social identity, describing the Tamil language as central to the state’s people. He said the BJP did not fully understand or respect the state’s traditions, intellectual freedom, and long standing commitment to social justice.

He further alleged that central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, and Income Tax Department were being used politically against opponents, calling corruption a major weakness for rival parties.

Concluding his speech, Rahul Gandhi assured voters that he would defend the interests of Tamil Nadu at the national level. He urged people to support the DMK Congress alliance, framing the election as a fight to keep the BJP and its allies out of the state.
