Rahul Gandhi alleges education system failure, cites 152 paper leaks in 10 years
The Congress leader accused the government of failing students and demanded accountability over examination irregularities.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticised the government over alleged examination irregularities, claiming that India’s education system has become unfair and unreliable for students.
Gandhi alleged that 152 examination paper leaks have occurred across the country in the last decade, with no convictions in any of the cases. He said millions of students and their families have been affected by repeated failures in the examination system.
Wearing a black armband in protest against the police action during the Cockroach Janta Party’s demonstration, the Congress leader said the education system, once considered among the country’s strengths, is now facing serious challenges.
Questioning the police response to student protests demanding transparency in examinations and accountability from authorities, Gandhi asked why students raising concerns were being met with force.
He criticised the government’s handling of the situation and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that he had failed to address the concerns of students.
Gandhi said students deserve a fair examination process and that those responsible for repeated irregularities must be held accountable.
