R.V. Deshpande Reappointed as Chairman of Karnataka Administrative Reforms Commission
The veteran legislator has been given Cabinet rank as he returns to the key administrative post.

Karwar: Senior Haliyal Joida MLA R.V. Deshpande has been reappointed as the Chairman of the Karnataka Administrative Reforms Commission.
According to a notification issued by the Karnataka government on Wednesday, the appointment takes effect immediately and will continue until further orders. Deshpande has also been granted the status of a Cabinet Minister.
Deshpande had earlier served as Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission during Siddaramaiah’s tenure as Chief Minister. His reappointment to the same position under the current government has drawn attention in political circles.
One of Karnataka’s most experienced politicians, Deshpande has been elected as an MLA for the ninth time. He has served as a minister under several chief ministers and is widely regarded as a veteran of state politics.
The Administrative Reforms Commission, under Deshpande’s chairmanship, submitted its 10th report to the state government towards the end of 2025.
Deshpande had reportedly been among those expected to receive a ministerial berth during the recent cabinet reshuffle. Instead, the government has once again entrusted him with a key responsibility while granting him Cabinet rank.
