Public Asked to Cooperate in Special Voter List Revision Drive Across Uttara Kannada
House to house verification will begin from June 30 as officials prepare for the special revision of electoral rolls.

Karwar: District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya has appealed to the public to extend full cooperation for the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, which will be carried out in Uttara Kannada district as per the directions of the Election Commission of India.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday, she said the revision process will commence on June 20. As part of the exercise, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house to house visits from June 30 to July 29 to distribute pre filled Enumeration Forms to voters.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that citizens must complete and return the forms within the prescribed period. BLOs will visit households once to distribute the forms and up to three times to collect the completed applications. She warned that failure to return the form could result in the voter’s name not being included in the draft electoral roll.
Each voter will receive two copies of the Enumeration Form. One completed copy must be handed over to the BLO, while the other may be retained by the voter for future reference.
The pre filled forms will already contain details such as the voter’s name, EPIC number, address, part number, serial number, and current photograph. Both the voter and the BLO, or a family member of the voter where applicable, must sign the forms. Voters will also be required to provide a recent colour photograph. No additional supporting documents need to be submitted along with the Enumeration Form.
For the revision exercise, the district administration has deployed six Electoral Registration Officers, twelve Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 1,445 Booth Level Officers, and 144 BLO Supervisors. Nodal Officers have also been appointed at the district, assembly constituency, and hobli levels to oversee the process.
Lakshmipriya said recognized political parties have already appointed 2,822 Booth Level Agents to assist with the electoral roll revision. The district currently has 12,30,016 registered voters. As part of the preparatory work, around 93.47 percent of voter details have already been verified through the mapping process, which will continue until the revision exercise officially begins.
According to the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 5. Citizens will be able to submit claims and objections until September 4. The disposal of claims and objections will be completed by October 3, and the final electoral roll will be published on October 7.
The Deputy Commissioner also reminded residents that every Indian citizen who has attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date and is not disqualified under any law is eligible to be enrolled as a voter. She assured that efforts would be made to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll.
Citizens who have doubts regarding the Enumeration Form or any aspect of the revision process have been advised to contact their respective Booth Level Officers for assistance.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla was also present at the press conference.
