Pradhan’s departure came after weeks of protests led by students and young people over alleged irregularities in major examinations. Demonstrators had been demanding accountability from the government and reforms to make the examination system more transparent and reliable.

The protests continued for 36 days at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and also gained support in other parts of the country. Pradhan’s resignation was one of the main demands raised by the protesters.

Joshi is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and an experienced member of the Union Cabinet. He currently handles the ministries of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy.

His appointment comes at a challenging time for the Education Ministry, which is facing growing pressure to address concerns about examination security, fairness and student welfare.

The government is now expected to focus on restoring public confidence and introducing measures to prevent similar controversies in the future.
