Bhatkal: A young man lost his life and another sustained injuries after a motorcycle crashed into a roadside tree on Bunder Road in Bhatkal on Saturday. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident.

According to police, Sumedha Narayan Naik, a resident of Gardi Hattalu in Belke village, was riding a TVS Apache motorcycle with Madhura Manjunath Naik, a resident of Sabti, as the pillion rider. The two were travelling from Shamsuddin Circle towards Bunder Road when the rider reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to collide with a tree along the roadside.

Both riders were seriously injured in the accident. Madhura Manjunath Naik suffered severe injuries to his chest, back, and hands. He was rushed to the Government Hospital but later died despite receiving treatment.

The rider, Sumedha Narayan Naik, also sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to local sources, Madhura Manjunath Naik was actively involved in social activities in the area. A large number of people gathered at the Government Hospital after news of his death spread. Family members said that his father had passed away earlier and that Madhura played an important role in supporting his family.

Based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s relative, Sachin Govind Naik, Bhatkal Town Police have registered a case against the motorcycle rider for rash and negligent driving. Further investigation is underway.

After the post mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family.
