Muslim Youth Responds to Alleged Communal Remarks in Hyderabad Housing Society Incident

Hyderabad: A dispute over tenancy arrangements in a housing society in the Kapra area of Hyderabad has escalated into a controversy after allegations of communal remarks were made during an argument between residents and the society management.

The incident reportedly took place at Janapriya Lakefront Society, where a managing committee secretary allegedly questioned the presence of a Muslim couple staying in the premises. According to a video circulating on social media, the official is seen engaging in a heated exchange in the presence of police personnel.

The couple has alleged that they were referred to in a derogatory manner and that their nationality was questioned during the confrontation. They claim that the society secretary used offensive language and made unfounded accusations against them.

In response, the young man strongly objected to the remarks, asserting his identity and stating that he was a proud Indian citizen. He also pointed to his family background, saying that his grandfather had served in the Indian Army, and rejected any suggestion questioning their loyalty.

The couple further alleged that serious accusations were made against them during the argument, including claims of illegal intentions, which they strongly denied.

According to preliminary information from Jawahar Nagar police, the dispute initially began as a routine administrative issue related to tenancy rules. The society secretary had reportedly questioned why an unregistered tenant was staying in the flat without prior approval from the management, and also raised concerns over pending rent payments.

However, the situation escalated after the conversation turned into a heated exchange involving personal and communal remarks.

Police personnel were present at the scene when the incident occurred. The couple has alleged that officers did not immediately intervene while the argument was ongoing. However, officials later stepped in and helped de escalate the situation.

Following public attention after the video went viral, the matter was resolved on the spot. The society secretary reportedly apologised to the couple in the presence of police and requested them to consider relocating. No formal complaint or FIR has been registered in connection with the incident.

While there was no report of violence or property damage, the episode has once again sparked discussions about discrimination faced by minorities in housing societies and the importance of maintaining communal harmony in urban residential spaces.

Police have stated that the matter was settled peacefully between the parties after counselling and intervention at the location.
