Mangaluru (Fikrokhabar News): Police have arrested a 23 year old man from Bagalkot district for allegedly abducting a Class 9 student who was on her way to school in the Ullal area of Dakshina Kannada district.
The accused has been identified as Goodusab alias Ashif, a mason from Bagalkot district.
According to reports, the accused and the girl’s family were from Bagalkot district. The family was living in a rented house near Kallapu in Ullal taluk, where the girl and her younger sister attended a nearby Kannada medium school.
On Tuesday morning, the girls’ parents sent both daughters to school as usual. However, a teacher later contacted the family and informed them that the elder daughter had not arrived at school.
The girl had reportedly told her mother earlier that Ashif was following her near the school and attempting to speak with her. He had allegedly been warned about his behaviour before the incident.
The girl’s mother subsequently approached Ullal police station on Tuesday evening and lodged a complaint, seeking action against the accused and assistance in tracing her daughter.
Police registered a case and launched a search. Acting on the complaint, Ullal police detained the accused in Someshwara on Tuesday night and rescued the minor girl.
Following the girl’s statement, police registered a case against the accused and produced him before the court for further legal proceedings.
