Lorry Driver and Cleaner Arrested for Assault on Toll Gate Staff
Bantwal City Police take action after violent incident at Bhramarakotlu toll gate.

Bantwal: City Police have arrested a lorry driver and his cleaner in connection with an assault on toll gate staff at the Bhramarakotlu–Kottalu toll plaza. The accused have been identified as Bharat (23), the lorry driver, and Tejas (26), the cleaner. Both are reported to be residents of Chikkamagaluru district.
According to the police, the incident took place in the early hours of December 29. The accused allegedly reached the Bhramarakotlu toll gate by driving the lorry in the wrong direction. When the toll staff asked them to pay the toll fee, the driver reportedly refused, moved the vehicle forward forcefully, and caused damage to the toll gate.
Police further stated that the driver and cleaner verbally abused and physically assaulted two toll employees, Ankit and Rohit. The situation escalated when the accused allegedly returned later with two other individuals in a pickup vehicle, illegally entered the toll booth area, and attacked the staff again.
Based on a complaint filed by Prashanth B (25), a resident of Kasaragod–Maleriya who was serving as the toll in-charge, a case was registered at the Bantwal City Police Station. After conducting an investigation, the police took the two accused into custody and registered a case against them.
Further investigation is underway.
