Kharge Accuses Modi Government of ‘Hitler Like Rule’, Alleges Democratic Institutions Are Being Weakened
Speaking in Kalaburagi, the Congress president criticises the government over electoral concerns, education and its treatment of Rahul Gandhi.

Kalaburagi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday accused the Narendra Modi led NDA government of authoritarian governance, describing its rule as “Hitler like” and alleging that democratic institutions were being weakened.
Addressing a gathering in Kalaburagi, Kharge claimed that public dissatisfaction with the ruling alliance was growing. He alleged that power was becoming increasingly concentrated and constitutional checks and balances were being undermined.
Referring to political developments in Andhra Pradesh, Kharge cited YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while arguing that some leaders who had previously supported the NDA were now questioning their decisions.
The Congress chief also raised concerns over alleged electoral irregularities and criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing him of favouring the BJP and the Prime Minister. These allegations were part of Kharge’s political remarks and were not independently established in the report.
Kharge further accused the BJP of repeatedly targeting Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He compared the criticism directed at Gandhi with the attacks he said the party had earlier made against former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
On education, Kharge questioned the government over reported vacancies in university teaching positions. He said inadequate attention to education was affecting young people and stressed that the Congress was fighting to protect democratic institutions and the future of citizens.
His remarks reflect the continuing political confrontation between the Congress and the NDA over electoral processes, institutional independence and the functioning of the central government.
