Karnataka Unveils ₹3,250 Crore Welfare Plan with Free Bus Passes and Private Sector Jobs for Youth
The state government announces a major package focused on student welfare, employment generation, youth engagement, and Bengaluru's infrastructure development.

The Karnataka government has announced a comprehensive welfare package worth nearly ₹3,250 crore aimed at boosting employment opportunities, supporting students, and improving infrastructure across the state.
According to senior government sources, the administration has identified young people as a key driver of the state’s future growth and has placed education and employment at the center of its development agenda. The proposed roadmap includes free bus travel for students, the creation of a state supported employment exchange, youth development initiatives, and major investments in Bengaluru’s road network.
As part of the initiative, students studying in schools and colleges across Karnataka will receive free bus passes. The move is expected to significantly reduce travel expenses, particularly for students from rural areas and economically weaker backgrounds, making access to education easier and more affordable.
The government is also working on a dedicated employment exchange platform designed to connect job seekers with private sector employers. The digital platform will provide skill development and training programs tailored to industry requirements while helping young people find suitable job opportunities. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen the workforce and improve employment prospects for local youth.
Another major component of the package is the establishment of 10,000 Bharat Jodo Youth Associations across the state. The government has allocated approximately ₹1,000 crore for the project. These youth organizations are expected to serve as community level platforms for sports, cultural activities, leadership development, and social engagement. Authorities hope the initiative will encourage greater participation of young people in civic and community activities.
To address Bengaluru’s long standing concerns over poor road conditions and traffic related issues, the government has approved ₹2,000 crore for road improvement and resurfacing works. Municipal officials said the investment will focus on upgrading key roads and improving urban mobility across the city.
The government has also proposed a one time relief measure related to Occupancy Certificates and Completion Certificates. The move is expected to help thousands of property owners resolve pending legal and administrative issues linked to their properties.
In addition, all departments have been directed to strengthen verification mechanisms in welfare schemes to ensure greater transparency and prevent misuse of public funds. The government stated that the objective is to ensure that benefits reach only eligible citizens and that taxpayer money is used effectively.
