Karnataka SIR Clears Over 2.4 Lakh Voters After Verification

More than 2.41 lakh voters who were initially flagged for possible exclusion from Karnataka’s electoral rolls have been cleared following verification, according to election officials.

The number of voters listed under the ASDDO category has consequently fallen from 1,11,16,386 on August 5 to 1,08,75,304 as of August 12.

The ASDDO list includes voters classified as absent, permanently shifted, dead, duplicate or falling under the category of others.

The largest reductions were recorded among voters listed as absent and permanently shifted. The absent category declined by 85,267 to 15,48,757, while the permanently shifted category fell by 95,037 to 65,73,976 after verification and the uploading of revised enumeration forms.

At the same time, the number of voters marked as dead increased by 6,796 to 16,36,673.

There were 7,01,412 voters classified as duplicates or as being enrolled elsewhere. In the others category, 80,492 people who had initially declined to sign their enumeration forms later completed the process, taking the total in that category to 4,14,486.

The verification was conducted by Booth Level Officers with support from Booth Level Agents appointed by political parties.

Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukkumar advised voters to check their status only through the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer.

Voters who believe they have been wrongly placed on the ASDDO list can contact their Booth Level Officer and seek correction until August 17.

Draft rolls to be published on August 24

The next major stage of the Special Intensive Revision will be the publication of the draft electoral rolls on August 24.

Voters who have submitted their enumeration forms will be included in the draft rolls. Those who did not receive an enumeration form or were wrongly classified can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6.

People who will turn 18 on or before October 1, 2026, can also apply through Form 6. Eligible residents of Karnataka who are not registered as voters elsewhere in India can submit their applications either online or offline.

Election officials said more than 12.94 lakh applications related to voter registration, deletion and corrections have already been received.

These include 4,08,798 Form 6 applications, 3,592 Form 6A applications, 31,415 Form 7 applications and 8,50,667 Form 8 applications.

Booth Level Officers have been provided with 30 forms each. Around 10 lakh additional forms have also been printed for distribution across the Greater Bengaluru Area.

Applications submitted through Forms 6, 7 and 8 up to September 23 will be considered during verification for the final electoral rolls. The final rolls are scheduled to be published on October 27.

Applications submitted after September 23 will instead be considered during the next Special Summary Revision scheduled for January 2027.

Over 73 lakh applications processed earlier

Between January 1, 2025 and June 16, 2026, when electoral roll updates were frozen for the SIR exercise, the Election Commission processed 73.03 lakh applications.

Of these, 66.22 lakh voters were added to the electoral rolls, while 6.77 lakh applications were rejected.

Voters whose names appear in the draft rolls can use Form 8 to request changes or corrections to their details.

The form can be used to update an address, shift registration within or outside an Assembly constituency or state, correct voter information, replace an EPIC or record a disability.

Corrections can be requested for details including name, gender, date of birth, relationship type, relationship name, address, mobile number and photograph.

A voter can request corrections to a maximum of four particulars at a time.
