Karnataka Cabinet Approves Rs 100 Crore Super Speciality Hospital in Karwar
A long standing demand of Uttara Kannada residents moves closer to reality with approval for a 200 bed advanced healthcare facility.

Karwar: In a major boost to healthcare facilities in Uttara Kannada district, the Karnataka government has granted administrative approval for the construction of a new super speciality hospital in Karwar.
The upcoming hospital will be built within the campus of Karwar Institute of Medical Sciences and will have a capacity of 200 beds. The ambitious project has been approved with an estimated budget of Rs 100 crore.
The decision was taken during an important cabinet meeting held at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The state government had earlier announced the allocation of Rs 100 crore for the project in its budget. With the cabinet now giving official administrative clearance, construction work is expected to begin soon.
The new hospital is expected to significantly improve healthcare services for people living in coastal and Malnad regions by providing advanced medical treatment facilities closer to home.
At present, patients from Uttara Kannada district often have to travel to cities such as Udupi, Mangaluru, Hubballi, or even hospitals in Goa for emergency and specialised treatment. In several cases, delays in reaching these distant hospitals have led to serious complications and even loss of lives.
Officials and residents believe that the new high tech hospital will help ensure timely and quality medical care for people across the region.
