Jamia Islamia Bhatkal Vice President Abdul Hameed Damudi Passes Away
Senior community leader and educationist Abdul Hameed Damudi breathed his last at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Bhatkal: Janab Abdul Hameed Damudi, Vice President of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal and trustee of Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Islamic Academy and Ali Public School, passed away on Saturday following age related illness. He was 97 years old.
His demise has been widely mourned across Bhatkal, with members of the community remembering him for his valuable contribution towards education, social service, and religious institutions.
The late Abdul Hameed Damudi is survived by his sons Abdul Raouf, Siraj, Masood, Saleem, and late Sadiq Damudi.
According to family sources, the funeral prayer will be offered after Asr prayer at Jamia Masjid Bhatkal. His mortal remains have been kept at his residence located at Bandar Road 1st Cross, Noor Mahal.
Following his demise, Jamia Islamia Bhatkal announced a holiday on May 16, 2026, across the institution and all its associated schools and maktabs as a mark of respect.
A condolence meeting organised by Jamia Islamia is also scheduled to be held on May 17, 2026, at 11:30 am at Jamia Abad campus.
Community members and well wishers have prayed for the departed soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive him, elevate his status in the Hereafter, and grant patience and strength to the bereaved family.
