Israeli Drone Strike Kills One in Southern Lebanon

Beirut, August 22: A Lebanese civilian was killed on Friday following an Israeli drone strike on the border town of Aita al-Shaab, located in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon. The attack was confirmed by the Emergency Health Operations Center at Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
The strike comes despite a ceasefire agreement, which officially took effect on November 27, requiring Israel to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanese villages within 60 days. Later, the Lebanese government extended this deadline to February 18.
However, according to Lebanese authorities, Israeli troops have not fully pulled back and continue to occupy at least five strategic border points. Officials further reported that Israel has committed more than 3,000 ceasefire violations since the truce began, sparking renewed tensions along the frontier.
Friday’s incident is the latest in a series of escalations undermining the fragile ceasefire, raising fears of further civilian casualties and instability in the region.
