Industrial associations in Uttara Kannada have been directed to register officially and renew their registration every year to support the district’s industrial development and improve coordination with government departments.

The direction was issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sajid Mulla during a meeting of various committees of the Department of Industries held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Karwar on Thursday.

Mulla said that registered industrial associations would be better placed to raise and resolve issues affecting industries in their respective areas. He stressed that formal registration would help improve communication between industry representatives and the administration.

He also instructed urban local bodies in the district to include the development of industrial areas in their annual action plans. The plans should ensure the provision of essential infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, roads, drainage systems, and waste management facilities in industrial estates, in line with the taxes collected from these areas.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the District Skill Development Department to prepare a report on the skill requirements of industries in the district in coordination with the District Industries Centre and the Small Scale Industries Association. The report will help identify training needs and support workforce development.

He further instructed all Industrial Training Institutes in the district to update their curriculum to match the current skill requirements of local industries and provide practical, industry oriented training to students.

The meeting also reviewed measures to promote exports from the district and discussed the progress of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme and the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.

Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Prakash Halammanavar, Joint Director of the District Industries Centre Nagaraj Nayak, Urban Development Cell Project Director Zaheer Abbas, officials from various departments, and industrialists from the district attended the meeting.
