INDIA Bloc Holds Protest Against SIR in Bengaluru, Demands Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, KPCC President BK Hariprasad and actor Prakash Raj join the demonstration at Freedom Park.

Bengaluru (Fikrokhabar News): Leaders and members of the INDIA bloc staged a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Thursday, November 5, opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The demonstration was organised under the slogan “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” and formed part of the opposition alliance’s nationwide campaign against the SIR exercise.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President BK Hariprasad and actor and activist Prakash Raj were among those who attended the protest. Several serving and former ministers, legislators, MPs and leaders of different political parties also participated.
The INDIA bloc has alleged that the SIR process lacks transparency and could affect the voting rights of eligible citizens. The alliance has demanded that the exercise be scrapped and that Gyanesh Kumar step down from his position.
Addressing the gathering, Shivakumar said voters whose names had been deleted from the electoral rolls, except those who were deceased, should receive justice. He said the protest would continue until the demands were addressed.
Hariprasad said the agitation would be extended beyond Bengaluru, with demonstrations planned at district and taluk levels across Karnataka. He maintained that the campaign would continue until the Chief Election Commissioner resigned.
Leaders of the CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML) Liberation, Forward Bloc and Samajwadi Party also took part in the agitation, along with representatives of various social and public organisations.
The Bengaluru protest follows a similar INDIA bloc demonstration held at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1. The alliance has announced plans to expand its campaign against the SIR exercise across the country.
