Hundreds of Students Stage Peaceful Protest at Bhatkal Mini Vidhana Soudha, Submit Memorandum Seeking Education Reforms
Students Welfare Wing demands strict action against examination paper leaks and calls for reforms to safeguard students' future.
Bhatkal: Hundreds of students under the banner of the Students Welfare Wing staged a peaceful protest at the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Bhatkal on Wednesday at around 3:30 PM, demanding urgent reforms in the country’s education system and stronger measures to ensure fairness in competitive examinations.
During the protest, student representatives submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Commissioner of Bhatkal, highlighting concerns over recurring examination irregularities, including alleged paper leaks in national level entrance examinations such as NEET.
In the memorandum, the students stated that education forms the foundation of the nation’s future and expressed concern that examination leaks and unfair practices are putting the hard work and aspirations of lakhs of students at risk.
The protesting students urged the government to implement strict and effective measures to permanently prevent examination paper leaks and establish a transparent, secure, and corruption free examination system.
The memorandum also called upon the authorities to consider the concerns and educational reform proposals raised by education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk through democratic dialogue and appropriate action.
Furthermore, the students appealed for immediate steps to strengthen the country’s education system and ensure responsible leadership in the education sector. They also sought necessary action regarding the position of the Union Education Minister in the larger interest of students and the nation.
Emphasising the peaceful nature of the demonstration, the Students Welfare Wing stated that the protest was conducted strictly within the constitutional framework and with complete respect for law and order.
The organisation reiterated that its primary objective is to protect the future of students and promote an education system that is fair, transparent, accountable, and free from corruption.
The memorandum has been forwarded to the concerned authorities through the Assistant Commissioner for further consideration.
