Late-night commuters on a crowded Mumbai local train faced moments of absolute terror on Tuesday when a minor argument over a train door rapidly escalated into a deadly knife attack. Social media clips captured the immediate, chaotic aftermath inside the coach, with panicked passengers screaming for medical help and shouting that a man had been killed.

The victim has been identified by law enforcement as 22-year-old Mayank Lohar. According to the police, the nightmare unfolded aboard a fast local train traveling from Churchgate toward Nallasopara, specifically inside a first-class compartment as the train moved between Andheri and Borivali stations.

Investigators revealed that the deadly friction began just after the train departed Andheri station around 10:42 PM. As heavy monsoon rains lashed the city, Lohar and another commuter got into a heated verbal altercation regarding whether the compartment door should be kept shut to block out the downpour or left open for ventilation.

The argument took a tragic turn when the suspect suddenly pulled out a sharp weapon and plunged it into Lohar’s abdomen. The sudden violence left onlookers paralyzed with shock.

While passengers scrambled to help the bleeding young man, the train kept moving toward its next scheduled stop. Seizing the opportunity, the attacker leaped out of the compartment as soon as the train pulled into Borivali station, successfully evading immediate arrest and fleeing into the night.

Government Railway Police and Railway Protection Force teams swarmed the platform once the train arrived, immediately rushing a critically injured Lohar to a nearby hospital. Tragically, medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.

The attacker is still on the run. Railway authorities have collected security camera footage from the stations and handed it over to the specialized police teams tasked with tracking down the suspect.
