High Alert Safety Measures Introduced at Beaches and Waterfalls Across Uttara Kannada
Tourism Department strengthens safety arrangements at major tourist destinations and temporarily suspends water adventure activities.

Karwar: In a move aimed at ensuring the safety of visitors, the Tourism Department has implemented enhanced safety measures at major beaches and waterfalls across Uttara Kannada district.
As part of the initiative, warning signboards have been installed at eight popular beaches, including Nadibhag and Honnagudi in Ankola, Gokarna, Kudle, Om Beach, Dhareshwar, Hedbunder, Apsarakonda in Kumta, and Murudeshwar in Bhatkal.
To improve tourist safety, new watch towers have been constructed at Murudeshwar, Gokarna, Om Beach, and Kudle Beach. The department has also increased the deployment of lifeguards at these locations to respond quickly to emergencies.
At Karwar Beach, six dedicated staff members have been assigned for cleanliness and maintenance work. In addition, the Beach Cleaning Machine has been repaired and put back into operation to ensure better upkeep of the shoreline.
As a precautionary measure during the current season, all water adventure sports activities conducted in the sea and rivers with Tourism Department permission have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
The department has also strengthened safety arrangements at waterfalls across the district. Warning boards highlighting potential dangers have been installed near eight waterfalls, including Vibhuti Falls in Ankola, Bennehole, Muregar, Shivaganga and Mattigetta waterfalls in Sirsi, Unchalli and Burude Falls in Siddapur, and Sathodi Falls in Yellapur.
To further enhance visitor safety, the department has requested the Home Guards Department to deploy 13 personnel at 13 major waterfalls in the district. These personnel will help monitor tourist movement and assist in maintaining safety at the sites.
The Deputy Director and Member Secretary of the District Tourism Development Department, Karwar, has appealed to all visitors to strictly follow safety guidelines issued by the department and avoid entering dangerous areas while visiting tourist destinations in Uttara Kannada.
