Bengaluru witnessed heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning after a sudden change in weather left several parts of the city flooded and brought normal life to a standstill.

The intense rain caused major traffic congestion during peak hours as roads across the city were submerged. Thousands of commuters were stranded as vehicles moved slowly through waterlogged streets and flooded underpasses.

Several busy localities including Majestic, Shivajinagar, Rajajinagar, Vasanth Nagar and KR Market were among the worst affected areas. Water quickly accumulated on roads and at key junctions, making travel difficult for motorists and pedestrians.

The city’s drainage system struggled to handle the sudden volume of rainwater, leading to flooding in low lying areas. Many drivers were forced to take alternative routes to avoid submerged roads and traffic jams.

The bad weather also disrupted flight operations at Bengaluru airport. Poor visibility and stormy conditions led to delays and possible diversions of flights. Airline companies, including IndiGo, issued travel advisories asking passengers to check flight schedules before heading to the airport.

The impact of the weather was also felt in other parts of Karnataka. Hubballi and Dharwad reported heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, resulting in flash flooding in several low lying areas.

Authorities and municipal workers have begun clearing blocked drains and trying to restore normal movement in affected areas. Residents have been advised to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and follow official traffic and weather updates.
