FIR Registered Against Udupi BJP MLA Yashpal Suvarna Over Alleged Hate Speech
Police book the BJP legislator following a complaint alleging inflammatory remarks made during a protest in Udupi.

Udupi: Police have registered an FIR against Udupi BJP MLA Yashpal Suvarna over allegations that he delivered an inflammatory speech during a protest organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Udupi on July 28.
The case was registered following a complaint filed by Udupi District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor at the Udupi Town Police Station. According to the complaint, Suvarna referred to CJP protesters and Congress leaders as terrorists during his speech and also used derogatory language against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The complainant alleged that the remarks were capable of promoting hatred and disturbing communal harmony and public order.
After reviewing the complaint, Udupi Town Police registered FIR No. 103/2026 under Sections 57, 192, 196(2), 352, 353(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police officials said they are also examining viral videos and other evidence related to the speech. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and in accordance with the law.
