Hyderabad: At a time when the world is rapidly embracing artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, environmental experts have warned that protecting nature remains one of humanity’s most urgent responsibilities.

To raise awareness about environmental conservation and forest protection, Green Secure Foundation organized a large seminar at the Bhaskar Auditorium of the BM Birla Science Museum in Hyderabad. The event brought together scientists, academics, civil servants, business leaders, and policymakers who discussed the growing impact of climate change and the need for sustainable living.

Several prominent speakers addressed the gathering, including IRS officer N. Balaram, IFS officer Rahul Jadhav, Vahari OTT founder A. L. Nathan Kumar, University of Hyderabad senior project scientist Dr. Poonam Singhal, Inmute founder Shilpa Guduru, Professor Mohammed Hussain, Green Secure Foundation CEO Aditya Pallavi, and social activist Dr. Sajida Khan, a recipient of the President’s Award.

The speakers highlighted how modern lifestyles have increasingly distanced people from nature. They noted that changing daily routines and reduced outdoor activity have limited people’s exposure to fresh air and natural surroundings. Experts suggested that environmental education and the importance of protecting trees should be integrated into school and college curricula to encourage long term awareness among young people.

Health professionals and environmental specialists also raised concerns about the widespread use of plastic and disposable products. During the seminar, speakers cautioned against excessive dependence on single use items and encouraged people to adopt sustainable alternatives in their daily lives.

Participants were advised to use reusable steel containers and water bottles instead of plastic products wherever possible. The discussion also focused on Hyderabad’s changing urban landscape, with speakers expressing concern over the decline of green spaces as rapid urban development continues to expand across the city.

Students attending the seminar were encouraged to plant at least one tree in their homes, neighborhoods, or schools and take responsibility for its care. Organizers emphasized that even small individual efforts can contribute significantly to environmental improvement.

Another major topic discussed was the waste of food and water in everyday life. Experts urged people to avoid taking more food than they can consume at social gatherings and stressed the importance of conserving water. They emphasized that developing responsible habits from a young age is essential for ensuring sustainable use of natural resources.

As part of a practical initiative to reduce plastic consumption, JCI Secunderabad representative Shilpa Devata Linga distributed reusable steel water bottles to participants attending the event.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Green Secure Foundation presented participation certificates and gifted saplings to attendees to encourage tree planting efforts at home and in their communities.

The organization also honored several individuals for their contributions to education and social service, including educationist Mohammed Husam Riyaz, poet Latifuddin Latif, NRI Mohammed Hussain Qadri Arif, Dr. Zulekha, and fashion designer Shehnaz Khan.

Participants collectively pledged to support environmental conservation, maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, and promote the message of sustainability within their communities.
