Dr. Savitha Kamath Transferred From Bhatkal Government Hospital After Seven Years of Dedicated Service
Her tenure marked a major transformation of the hospital through infrastructure upgrades, better services, and community support

Bhatkal: Dr. Savitha Kamath, the administrative officer and Taluk Health Officer (THO) of Bhatkal Government Hospital, has been transferred after serving for nearly seven years, bringing an end to a notable phase in the hospital’s development.
During her tenure, Dr. Kamath played a key role in transforming the government healthcare facility, which had earlier faced several challenges including infrastructure problems, limited facilities, and shortage of medical staff. Under her leadership, efforts were made to improve patient care and strengthen healthcare services for people in Bhatkal and nearby areas.
An anesthesiologist by profession, Dr. Kamath joined the hospital in 2000 and later took charge of administrative responsibilities. She worked closely with local organizations and donors to improve hospital infrastructure. Through community support and contributions from various philanthropic groups, including the Infosys Foundation, funds were raised for several development projects.
The improvements included renovation of hospital facilities, development of a dialysis unit, immunization ward, modern mortuary facilities, and installation of an oxygen plant. She also focused on maintaining discipline among staff, improving cleanliness, and ensuring better availability of medical services.
Her efforts in strengthening public healthcare earned appreciation from various sections of society, and she was also honoured with the Chief Minister’s Medal for Healthcare Excellence.
Following the news of her transfer, residents, social workers, and community members expressed their appreciation for her contribution to Bhatkal Government Hospital. Many acknowledged her role in creating a stronger healthcare system through teamwork, transparency, and public participation.
