“I am someone who builds temples, not someone who removes them,” Vaidya said, while stressing that the matter should be handled carefully and brought to a proper solution.

The MLA said everyone in Bhatkal should live together peacefully and that any misunderstanding or mistake must be corrected through the right process.

He also said that if there was any mistake from officials, action would be taken against the concerned department. At the same time, he added that if any member of the public was found guilty, whether Muslim or Hindu, action would also be taken against them.

“Whoever has made a mistake, it is a mistake. Action will be taken against them,” he said.

Vaidya repeated that he would not comment further without knowing the full details of the incident.

His statement comes at a time when Bhatkal is witnessing tension over the Murin Katte structure near National Highway 66. Police have increased security in sensitive areas and officials have appealed to people to maintain peace and avoid rumours.
