Congress Secures Davangere South Seat as Samarth Shamanur Wins By-Election
Congress regains Davangere South after a closely contested battle with BJP.

Davangere: Congress candidate Samarth Shamanur has won the by-election in the Davangere South constituency, marking an important victory for the party after a tough contest with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
While the official declaration is still awaited, early results confirm that Shamanur has secured enough votes to take the seat. BJP candidate Srinivas Dasakariappa mounted a strong challenge throughout the election but ultimately fell short.
The by-election was conducted following the passing of former MLA Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, which left the constituency vacant. The contest drew significant attention as both major parties put in considerable effort to claim the seat.
Despite facing internal disagreements over candidate selection and some dissatisfaction among sections of the minority community, Congress managed to overcome these challenges and retain its hold on the constituency.
