Hundreds of students and young activists gathered at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Sunday, defying persistent rainfall to participate in a large scale protest over concerns surrounding national examination processes.

The demonstration was organized by the Cockroach Janta Party, a satirical youth movement that has gained significant attention online. The rally formed part of the group’s nationwide “Justice” campaign, which focuses on issues affecting students and concerns about the integrity of public examinations.

Protesters assembled under heavy security and raised slogans demanding accountability from the central government. A key demand of the gathering was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, with participants alleging shortcomings in the handling of the NEET UG 2026 examination controversy and concerns related to examination evaluation systems.

The event drew support from several prominent public figures. Actor and activist Prakash Raj joined the protesters and expressed solidarity with students. Addressing the gathering, he called on authorities to take responsibility for issues that have affected the confidence of examination candidates and their families.

Other personalities who were expected to support the campaign included actor Kiran Srinivas, wildlife filmmakers Krupakar B. S. and Senani Hegde, as well as environmentalist Nagesh Hegde.

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk also addressed the broader movement, emphasizing that the campaign is not intended to function as a political party or contest elections. According to him, the initiative is focused on raising awareness and advocating for the rights and interests of students across the country.

Despite continuous rain throughout the day, participants remained at the protest venue and continued their demonstrations into the evening. Organizers said the Bengaluru event followed similar campaigns held in New Delhi, Pune, Lucknow, and Amritsar.

Campaign organizers stated that they plan to continue their efforts in the coming weeks, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and reforms aimed at strengthening trust in India’s examination system.
