Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das has approached the Delhi High Court against two digital media platforms, social media intermediaries and political commentator Abhijit Iyer Mitra, alleging that the publication of his residential address violated his privacy.

Represented by advocate Samyak Gangwal, Das has asked the court to award damages and prevent further publication or circulation of his home address and other private information. He has also sought the removal of personal details that are still accessible online.

The petition names YouTube channels The Pamphlet and The Jaipur Dialogues. Das has alleged that Iyer Mitra drew public attention to his residence and disrupted his peaceful possession of the property.

According to Das, his work as a journalist and his political activities have previously made him the target of threats and hostility. He has argued that repeatedly sharing his exact residential address could create a serious and predictable risk to his safety and the safety of those around his home.

Earlier this month, Das also approached the Delhi Police over allegations involving certain social media accounts. He claimed that some individuals entered and recorded his residence in Greater Kailash while he was away.

Das further alleged that the individuals spoke with the caretaker, security staff and neighbours in an effort to gather information about him.

He subsequently sought an FIR under Sections 329, 351 and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to criminal trespass and house trespass, criminal intimidation and defamation.

The matter has also unfolded amid another controversy involving Das’s family home in Puducherry. Police personnel were present at the residence last week, prompting allegations of political intimidation.

Police, however, said the visit was part of a routine security exercise conducted ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
