Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has alleged that Maharashtra Police are issuing notices to CJP activists and pressuring them not to participate in the party’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10.

Addressing a press conference in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Tuesday, Dipke claimed that activists in Chandrapur had received notices questioning their plans to travel to Delhi and asking about the source of funds for their travel expenses. He described the alleged action as an attempt to intimidate protesters.

According to Dipke, the notices also referred to the possibility that the proposed agitation could turn violent. He questioned how the police could predict in advance that a protest scheduled for October 10 would become violent. He also objected to alleged directions concerning social media posts that could potentially lead to violence.

Dipke questioned why police would seek details about the source of money used by an individual to purchase a train ticket costing around Rs 1,000 or Rs 1,500 to travel from Chandrapur to Delhi. He said citizens should be able to travel to participate in a peaceful demonstration.

The CJP has announced a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has linked its demand to concerns over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and questions surrounding the functioning of the Election Commission.

The latest claims follow a major CJP demonstration held at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2. The party has said it plans to continue its campaign in Delhi, while Dipke has maintained that the proposed agitation will be peaceful.

A notice shared by Dipke was reportedly issued by Ballarpur Police in Chandrapur district on October 5 under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The Indian Express reported that the Chandrapur district Superintendent of Police described such notices as routine preventive measures issued ahead of protests.

Dipke also criticised the BJP led central government’s One Nation, One Election proposal, claiming that it was merely a slogan and alleging that the broader intention was to establish one political party across the country. These remarks represent Dipke’s political allegation and were not independently established in the reports reviewed.

With the October 10 protest approaching, the dispute has drawn attention to the balance between preventive policing and the right of citizens to participate in peaceful demonstrations. The CJP has maintained that its proposed protest will go ahead as planned.
