Chaos at Jantar Mantar as Delhi Police Use Force to Disperse CJP Supporters Ahead of ‘Chalo Sansad’ March

Tension prevailed at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Monday after Delhi Police used batons to disperse supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party who had assembled for the proposed “Chalo Sansad” march to Parliament.

Thousands of protesters, largely comprising students and young people, gathered in the national capital on the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session to demand action over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and seek the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Despite police refusing permission for the march and imposing restrictions on large gatherings, supporters continued to converge at the protest site, leading to chaotic scenes. Videos circulating on social media showed police personnel using sticks and batons while attempting to disperse the crowd.

Authorities had already imposed prohibitory orders in parts of central Delhi and warned that any violation of the restrictions would invite legal action. Security arrangements were significantly tightened around Jantar Mantar and Parliament, with additional police personnel deployed across sensitive locations.

Mobile internet services were also temporarily suspended in certain parts of central Delhi as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

Amid the developments, the Cockroach Janta Party appealed to its supporters to remain peaceful and avoid any confrontation with security forces.

In a statement, the organisation urged protesters to stay calm even if they were stopped by authorities, stating that the movement would succeed only through peace and non violence.

The protest movement has gained national attention in recent weeks, particularly following activist Sonam Wangchuk’s prolonged hunger strike and growing demands for transparency and accountability in the country’s examination system.
